Granblue Fantasy Versus -Rising- Most Wanted Characters

Granblue Fantasy is a gacha game series published by Cygames, it had a fairly successful fighting game published by Arc System Works and now that game is getting a sequel. The series has a ton of characters would work perfectly as a fighting game character. The characters are original, flashy, and overall pretty fun. While Gacha's are just casinos in our pocket meant to fuck us over by getting us emotionally attached to a character, even I am only human and ya know enjoy GBF. So I wanted to go over the characters I want in Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising most because well, any time they make a video game about these characters it's better then spending time playing the Casino game.

This list isn't in order, just 10 of my most wanted characters explaining a bit about who they are, why I like them and why I think they could be fun in a fighting game.

Silva

Silva feels like she would be the ultimate zoner. Her skills with the gun are on par with her girlfriend Song's skills with the bow and she is said to be one of the most powerful people in the whole world. She's a plucky adventure, she is popular, she has a full family of characters who could make cameos in her move sets and supers. I think she could work similarly to a character like Happy Chaos but with a much more down to earth flare then the wildness he brings to the table.

Lunalu

I think realistic Lunalu's chances are the lowest on this list but I think she would be so funny and if they are gonna put out a new joke character I think she would be the coolest character to use. Her ultimate could have her turn each individual character into a drawing for one of her romance manga's serving up exciting and well loved moments like Faust gives to Guilty Gear. Playstyle wise she could be a character who needs to gather resources to prepare to fight then unleash her fantasy form to fight like a top tier but only after spending some time as the worst character in the game. I really just think this manga artist is so good and she is like the only Harvin I really really like.

Ange

I mean any of the sapphic characters not already on this list or in the game could be in this slot but I just thin Ange deserves more love. Her fancy dual blades yet fencer fighting style could make for a very fun Mid Range style maybe with a tip mechanic like Marth from Smash Bros want to hit the foe at the right spot of your weapon to deal extra damage. Her whole thing in the game series is that she was to impress girls and be a dazzling prince for a princess. So I imagine there would be a fun flashy flare to every single attack like a rose petal effect.

Gold Knight aka Alliah

While main story characters are represented to some extent, these are mostly early story characters. Gold Knight has the honor of being a main baddy of the second arc and also being extremally important to the current arc. Gold Knight is extremal powerful and her ability to copy buffs, debuffs and do double supers really gives her such a wide range to pull from. She could be like a Seth from Street Fighter stealing some moves from other characters either in the game or not in it or she could be like a heavier argo character.

Makura

Makura is one of the Zodiacs, the most recent one representing the year of the rabbit. If I ever saw a rush down character, it be her, she looks utterly perfect for a hyper agro play style dashing in maybe having her rabbit friends provide her with ways of getting in against zoning.

[Note I wrote this before the new zodiac character was announced, I think she is a great choice for the game, sheep woulda been like my 3rd pick but a very strong 3rd.]

Apollina aka Black Knight and Orchid

Black Knight was basically the main direct Villain of the first arc of Granblue Fantasy, the Darth Vader to the actual main baddies Emperor. Orchid is always by her side and both characters are intertwined in such a way that I think it's better to do them together then apart. I think BK and Orchid could easily be a sort of "puppet" fighter with Orchid and Black Knight fighting together on the battlefield, Orchid setting up defensive options while BK is the offensive hand. Proper positioning of both units being needed to fully use the character.

Fediel

Fediel is the dark Advent Dragon and is one of the most popular characters in Granblue Fantasy. She was released after the polling for rising so who knows what that means for her chance to get in, they clearly preplanned a lot about the Advent Dragon Story, it's very possible they talked to Arcsys and knew they stuck gold handing them the character. Regardless she should get in. She has cool zombie dragon powers, she would play unlike most other characters could with only a few other characters having comparable skills. I think she would be an interesting status fighter using status's to move forward an advantage.

Meg

The queen of Summer, Meg is one of the most fun characters the team at Cygames has ever written. I think she would be an amazing mix of joke character and serious character in a way that so few other characters can really bring to the table. She is serious and badass in battle but she fighters with a shark for a hand and is kinda a silly goofy girl. She would have funny little intro lines about getting ready for another great summer only to go all killer mode during battle. It be amazing, fantastic, stupendous even. I think meg is a hyper close range rushdown type. I think she would have the closest range in the game but higher combo potential as a reward. Getting in is hard but if you get in you can touch of death way easier.

Nier

The Evokers have plenty of great candidates for a character and I would be happy with a lot of them but Nier for my money is maybe the most fun. She is a perfect candidate to play like phoenix from UMVC3. She could have a reviving from the dead mechanic that puts her into a wildly powerful mode but also have the smallest health bar, smallest defenses. It's easy for weak characters to touch of death her and out of rezed mode she would not be particularly strong but in rezed mode she would have the most damage and most speed in the game.

Tikoh

Tikoh is two souls in one body, a young girl who was fused into her and herself. The pair dealt with a shocking horrifying event for the general tone of the gacha and the plural vibes plus general personality of these two really drew me in. Tikoh is the coolest healer character they've ever made and I think they can really represent healers in a fun way by using Tikoh as a more aggressive but more sustainable fighter. Perhaps she can switch between modes like in GBF where in one mode she deals way less damage but her bar is constantly healing meaning if you can't get in your fucked and then having a damaging mode where she doesn't heal but trades that for fighting like a normal character.

I caught up with gbf main story last night…. Wahhh mikaboshi…. it feels bad but if they take it back later and she’s actually alive that would be worse than letting her stay dead… I’m forgetting who rn but I remember them doing that with someone from an event a while back. I also think it would be interesting to look deeper at Tau’luk and his situation when he was the true king, but I don’t think we’ll get a lot of that, or if we do, at least not for a while. I knowww there’s plot happening but i really wish we’d explore the newer characters a bit more. They did it pretty well in nalhegrande, but personally I have been less satisfied with the flow of things since the otherworld attack part started. It’s… interesting, but it’s requiring a lot more suspension of disbelief on my part, and brought in/closer a lot of characters that we don’t really… know? I Like them, but the story feels like it’s weaker for not exploring or even really showing much of how they relate to each other (I am talking mostly about the knights here. They’re all like wow look plot twist you are the true king now wow!!! And then we’re hanging out with white and green and alliah a lot more, but we still don’t really know their deal.) see, I have no idea how much any of them cared for tau’luk, if at all!!!! Other than alliah, no one else’s relationship to the king and their knighthood has really been discussed? and these guys are supposed to be like. Incredibly significant worldwide. Like yes it’s good to keep some intrigue, but if I don’t understand what the significance of tau’luks death/erasure would be to any of them aside from alliah who is literally his daughter, I don’t think I’m getting enough info here… weh

before I go on a ramble abt Alliah, let's get into those headcanons--

Alliah + Kisses

Alliah is much more reserved with physical affection, kissing moreso. She’s afraid of opening up and the fear of her partner potentially abandoning her haunts Alliah greatly - even if she won’t admit it.

Because of this, she nearly fell over when you first kissed her. It was soft and sweet - something she would’ve never expected to receive - and she enjoyed it immensely.

So much so, Alliah ended up giving you kisses daily. Sometimes on the cheek, sometimes on the hand. It was usually on the back of the hand, since she could also hold it after. Although she’s still not used to all of the love, Alliah is more than happy to have it. 

Alexiel + Kisses

Alexiel’s kisses are short and to the point, if a bit brisk. She’s unsure of herself; unsure if what she’s doing is right. It’s typically a light kiss on the cheek or the forehead if Alexiel feels in the mood. 

She’s certainly never expected you to return the favor, planting kisses on her face when she was alone. 

“(Name)? What are you doing?” She would ask with a smile creeping onto her face when you would kiss her nose, cheeks, and forehead in return. 

"Nothing." You would reply in tandem, leaning against her shoulder. Alexiel then sighed and pulled you close, more than willing to accept more affection from you.

Threo + Kisses

Threo was passionate about two things: fighting and you. Her kisses reflected this passion, his lips landing roughly wherever she could get her hands on.

"(Name!) Come here!" She called you over and slung her arms around you when you turned around: "I missed you!"

You laughed and gave her a tight hug back; sinking into her touch and the feeling of a kiss being placed on your cheek. Threo’s eyes light up when you ruffle her hair, happy to be home. 

Anthuria + Kisses

Anthuria’s kisses are certainly something - soft then brash, sweet then rough, and you’re never quite sure how to react. You’ve known about her crush on you for awhile, but weren’t sure when she was going to say anything... if at all. 

So it was definitely a surprise when she abruptly cupped your face and planted a kiss on you nose. Blinking in surprise, you pull back slightly to find Anthuria’s face bright red but with a pleasant smile. 

“Uh... Anthuria...?” You ask, confused. She quickly snaps herself out of her stupor to reply hastily:

“Sorry, (Name)! I just- um- you looked very cute and I-”

“It’s alright.” 

Staring at each other for a few seconds awarded an awkward laugh shared between you both and a couple more apologies from the brave Erune. Nevertheless, you were more than happy to receive any of her kisses from then on.

Mainly because it increases the chances of us getting Lecia and Monika's hot dad as a playable character.

(Too bad he's probably Water following the trend, so I can't put him on a team with his daughters. KMR give him to me, you already stole a bara from me.) I want the DILF

*And as a bonus she has a nice design, and an interesting role throughout Arc 2 so getting more on her thoughts on the events that happened in it and how she'll move forward would be cool.

can i talk about main story for the billionth time this month. guy whos obsessed with the grans family - istavions royal family relation. when u find out the true king is the reason ur grandparents are dead (info that was kept from u on request by ur father so u wouldnt leave with revenge in ur heart) and kidnapped ur aunt (also info that was kept from u. even the fact u have an aunt), and then when u properly meet him in his castle he tells u to politically marry the daughter he didnt use as a weapon (well the golden knight position is still a bit....but pholias situation is hell). sorry we invaded zinkenstill it was for the sky anyway to strengthen our families lets join in union. (side-talk about the great wall & the dead timeline)

(long long post about alliah & going along with her dads choices all her life & her descriptions of her father & her reactions to how captain treats her. very long long long post. i think shes so...squeezes her. wind alliah.........the breakfast.......... because these are sooooooo cute LOL i am not a alliah/captain person, and while gran doesnt have anything against her, the entire thing was way too political & way too forced + uh. they dont want the king role anyway, give it alliahs mom instead, they were fine forcibly accepting it & the kings eye due to all the circumstances around it but longterm...no way...............get them out of there (theres a topic in grans personal conflicted feelings against istavion & how true king led it, regardless of his reasons. since those reasons directly fkd up grans family like.....LOL dad mightve made sure gran wouldnt set out with revenge in their heart but theyre not about to be besties with tau'luk or anything

anyway i rly like wind alliahs fate eps actually. i like her laughing. i like the difference in how she was used to things with her dad vs how things are when captain&co are in that room.

Alliah: Captain appears almost like a different person. This reminds me of the former king... Of how he would say next to nothing on the eve of shaking up the kingdom.

Octavia: Former King, it appears my new liege is distressed. Violet Knight: Who wouldn't be at that age? Poor captain can't even confide in the friends that are still around. Tau'luk: Only the venerable child understands that the Otherworld is rewriting history. Explaining it to others would just cause confusion and be forgotten. Violet Knight: My lord, you have a nasty habit of burdening others without hesitation. Can't you see the child is suffering? Tau'luk: I can only place my faith in the venerable child. Nay, it is because I do have faith that I entrusted the throne to that youth. Octavia. Assist the venerable child as necessary. You understand well the solitude that accompanies the throne.
